Sails
Angsana Corfu Resort & Spa, Corfu
Idea of the work
Sail in motion, sea, dance.
The sculpture consists of 3 sails. The rendering of the sails is done in a free and at the same time abstract way, thus allowing the viewer to have their own interpretation of the work.
The shape of the sculpture forms a dynamic ellipse upwards, creating a sense of movement from the repetition of the forms. At their end, the forms tend towards a “meeting” and ultimately produce a kind of dance and gathering. The sails are made of vertical sections with gaps, which enrich the rhythm and plasticity of the work. At the same time, the gaps help to reduce air resistance, thus making the work resistant to weather conditions.
The work is made of stainless steel. It is a modern, clean, reflective material that disintegrates in the light and diffuses into the environment. It symbolizes renewal, rebirth and re-creation.
The height of the sculpture reaches 4 meters.
